Wooden Photo Holders

Supplies:

  • Wood: 1″x4″ piece cut in a 12″ length and sanded
  • craft paint
  • craft paper
  • Decoupage
  • foam brushes
  • vinyl lettering: “the best things in life aren’t things”
  • clothespins
  • ribbon
  • hot glue gun
  • picture hanging hardware

Instructions:

  1. After sanding your wood, take a damp cloth and wipe it down, making sure there is no sawdust left on the board.
  2. Paint your wood with as many coats of paint as you want to give it the finish you are looking for. I usually do 2 coats. Let dry.
  3. Trim your craft paper down to the size you want. I leave a 1/2″ to 1″ border on all sides.
  4. Using decoupage, cover the wood and then lay down your paper and starting in the middle, slowly gluing the paper down while working out any bubbles. You only have a minute or two before the paper seals to the board so work quickly.
  5. Apply another coat of decoupage to the top of the paper going all the way to the edges. Let dry.
  6. Turn the board over and attach the picture hanging hardware.
  7. Place your vinyl on the board.
  8. You can paint your clothespins, cover them in paper or fabric, or leave them plain. Using a hot glue gun attach them to the bottom quarter of the board, with the clip end facing down. (This is where your photos will hang.)
  9. Make a ribbon bow and hot glue it to the middle of the clothespin, hiding the hinge part.
  10. Enjoy!
