Flag Blocks

 

Supplies:

  • 2”x4” wood:
    • 2 – 7” pieces
    • 2 – 3 ½ ” pieces
    • 2 – 3” pieces
  • Sandpaper
  • Paint – Red, white, blue
  • Foam brushes
  • Wooden stars, stickers, stamps, etc.
  • Wired Ribbon and 6” piece of wire
  • Hot glue

Instructions:

  1. Sand wood pieces till smooth and wipe off with a damp cloth, removing all sawdust.
  2. Paint one 7” piece of wood and one 3 ½ “ piece of wood red.
  3. Paint one 7” piece of wood and one 3 ½ “ piece of wood white.
  4. (This may take several coats of paint depending on how you want your wood to look.)
  5. Paint both 3” pieces of wood blue.
  6. (If you want a high gloss finish, spray top coat gloss spray on them in a well-ventilated area and let dry completely.)
  7. Paint your wooden star white and attach to the front of one of the 3” blocks with hot glue. Or attach stickers.
  8. Stack blocks, starting with red on the bottom, and wrap flag with ribbon and tie a bow. Or make your bow and hot glue to the top of the flag.
